With Major League Baseball's offseason crawling along at a snail's pace, the NFL just went all "hold my beer." The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly dealt Pro Bowl quarterback Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins.

The package Washington will send isn't immediately known, but reports suggest a combination of picks and a player:

Smith, who arguably threw the league's best deep ball this year, led the Chiefs to a red-hot 5-0 start, including a huge win over the New England Patriots. Though the team regressed back to the mean over the course of the regular season, they ended up winning their second straight AFC West title. But with the late emergence of young signal-caller Patrick Mahomes, the veteran Smith suddenly looked expendable.

On the other end, Washington now has a way forward-- and a clear path to let increasingly expensive QB Kirk Cousins finally walk away in free agency.

You though the Super Bowl was the only thing to get jazzed up about this week? You thought the Eagles would hog all the NFC East headlines? Think again.
