Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuente was a major candidate for a number of head coaching vacancies around the country this offseason, however he said no to all of them and pledged his allegiance to Hokies.
VaTech is rewarding his loyalty with a second pay bump in two years, extending his contract to 2024 and raising his compensation to $4 million in 2018 and 2019.

Fuente earned $3.25 million in 2017, which made him the 33rd highest paid coach amongst public schools in the country. It also puts him at 5th amongst public school coaches in the ACC.
The seven-year contract is now worth $30.5 million in total.
The Hokies also made an assortment of other moves amongst its football coaching staff.
The 41 year old Fuente has gone 19-8 in his two seasons in charge of Virginia Tech, and the program looks to do even better in 2018.
It's a good time to be a college football coach right now, and Fuente is the latest to cash in on the market.
