Earlier this morning, a bomb of news dropped when it was reported veteran offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell is being fired by the Seahawks.
That's not the only shocking news to drop Wednesday.
According to KJR's Dave Mahler, defensive coordinator Kris Richard and quarterbacks coach Carl Smith won't be returning either.
Here’s what I’m hearing: Not just Bevell. Per sources: Kris Richard also out as DC, QB’s coach Carl Smith leaving as well.— Dave Softy Mahler (@Softykjr) January 10, 2018
This is going to be a completely different looking coaching staff next season.
Though the Bevell news undoubtedly brought happiness and excitement to the fan base, Richard is a fan favorite.
He's expected to leave Seattle to accept a head coaching position. With Kam Chancellor and Cliff Avril's future on the gridiron completely up in the air, the Seahawks defense was already expected to take a big hit. But now Richard?
More change coming for the #Seahawks: DC Kris Richard would be allowed out of his contract for another opportunity, sources say. He's had a long relationship with Pete Carroll, who believes Richard would benefit from experiencing something new. Could have OC & DC openings.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 10, 2018
It's been a busy offseason already for Seattle, and things are only just getting started. Who will take over at offensive and defensive coordinator?
Time for Carroll and John Schneider to start making some calls.
