This will be a head scratcher for the Florida State Seminoles.
Defensive end Jalen Wilkerson has declared for the NFL Draft. Usually the outlook is a little more obvious, but Wilkerson was not expected to enter the draft early.
Wilkerson's 2017 campaign wasn't exactly eye opening. He had 19 tackles, six tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks. Not exactly the best stats for a defensive end at big school.
Some people will never know why you have to make the decisions you make, but I will forever be thankful for the opportunity to play for nole nation. You guys are amazing and God bless ✌— HumbleBeast•30 (@88Dreamchaser) January 9, 2018
Wilkerson was recruited out of high school as a tight end prospect in 2015. He was a 3-star recruit and the 14th ranked tight end in his recruiting class.
This move could be a result of the coaching change in Tallahassee. Wilkerson was recruited by Jimbo Fisher and it wouldn't be surprising if more of his recruits decide to go pro early or even follow Fisher to Texas A&M.
Wilkerson will have his eyes on Florida State's pro day to impress scouts and raise his draft stock.
