Trae Young is in a league of his own atop college basketball right now.
Young has been given the freedom to run the Sooners offense as he wishes, which includes a lot of shot attempts that would make most coaches cringe. But Lon Kruger isn't most coaches.
Behind the stellar performance from Young, Oklahoma notched an easy win over Oklahoma State in Bedlam. Young messed around and nearly got a triple-double in the process.
Young is front and center in the Naismith Player of the Year race, and while he might not win the award due to the stellar play of several freshmen around the country (think Bagley), the Sooners guard is the exact type of player we get excited about come March.
Young has the range of a college Steph Curry, and far less limitations as to the number of shots he can take, and where he's allowed to pull up from.
Steph Curry asked about Trae Young from OU, who some have compared to him: "He's incredible" pic.twitter.com/TGlDvHvUix— Anthony Slater (@anthonyVslater) January 4, 2018
When Steph is noticing, you must be doing something right.
