J.T. Realmuto has spent his entire four-year career with the Miami Marlins. However, now that Derek Jeter is in charge of baseball operations, no one is safe from being traded. The Marlins have cleaned house already and Realmuto could be the next to go. Here are three contenders that should trade for the catcher, despite the Marlins' high asking price.
3. Arizona Diamondbacks
Despite being in the same division as the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Arizona Diamondbacks have a real shot at making a deep playoff run. The only problem is, they have no consistency at catcher. J.T. Realmuto would make a great replacement for Jeff Mathis, who batted a paltry .215 in 2017. Realmuto's .278 average with 17 home runs would make a huge difference for the D-Backs, who are ready to contend in 2018.
2. Washington Nationals
The Nats had a great year in 2017. The won 97 games and took the NL East by 20 games. Ultimately, however, they fell short in the NLDS. Where Washington could really stand to improve is behind the dish, where Matt Wieters put up some brutal numbers. J.T. Realmuto would add a spark to the Nationals lineup, and give them the push they need to send them to the Fall Classic. Acquiring Realmuto would be a great move for the Nationals.
1. Cleveland Indians
For the second year in a row, the Cleveland Indians fell short in October. If they want to live up to their full potential and win a World Series, they'll need to make some adjustments. The Indians have some solid power in catcher Yan Gomes, but they really need a full-time catcher who can put up even better numbers. J.T. Realmuto is a solution for Cleveland, who might need to figure out a new direction if they fall short again in 2018. They need to trade for Realmuto before the 2018 season.
