Chiefs fans are sure excited that they will finally get the chance to see quarterback Patrick Mahomes play in a real game.
It was announced earlier today that Mahomes will be starting for the Chiefs this Sunday against the Denver Broncos.
When asked about how it felt finding out that he's going to be starting Sunday, Mahomes gave a great answer.
“It’s exciting news but now it’s time to get to work.”— BJ Kissel (@ChiefsReporter) December 27, 2017
- @PatrickMahomes5 on finding out he’s going to start vs. Broncos.
Mahomes knows that it's an exciting opportunity, but he has to stay locked in and focused with the task at hand.
After trading up to get him in the 2017 NFL Draft, it was pretty much known that Mahomes was the Chiefs' future quarterback, and Alex Smith's tenure in Kansas City was coming to an end.
Alex Smith has led the Chiefs to a division title this year, but most likely will not be back with the team next season, as the offense has struggled mightily at times.
Hopefully Mahomes will have a good performance, or at least one that will have Chiefs fans excited for the future.
