Stick to the plan this time, Dave.
The Dodgers will have their backs against the wall on Tuesday night in Los Angeles and, according to manager Dave Roberts, will be without their two best starting pitchers.
Yu Darvish, who is already slated to take the mound if the Dodgers force a Game 7, won't be available in relief. Neither will Game 5's starter Clayton Kershaw.
If you're keeping score at home, that means relievers Brandon Morrow and Kenley Jansen will be made available on Tuesday night. Morrow struggled mightily in his Game 5 appearance, where it was immediately evident that his arm has been overworked this postseason.
Jansen also looked pretty gassed during the late innings of Sunday night's memorable loss, one in which he served up the game-winning hit in extras. Roberts will need him to shut the door, one way or another, on the Astros in Game 6, if the Dodgers put themselves in a position to win.
Brandon Morrow isn't only #Dodgers reliever running on fumes tonight. Kenley Jansen is relying on force of will more than his cutter here— Bill Plunkett (@billplunkettocr) October 30, 2017
The extra day of rest could be the difference for the Dodgers' bullpen on Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 8:20 PM (ET), so get ready for a long night of baseball.
If you see Kershaw or Darvish take the mound at any point, you've either fallen asleep or Dave Roberts has officially lost his mind.
