Coming off a 26-24 victory over the San Francisco 49ers, the Redskins are looking to improve their record to 4-2 on the season this weekend.
However, they'll have to do so without kicker Dustin Hopkins.
According to Ian Rapoport, the veteran kicker is out for Week 7 due to a hip injury.
#Redskins K Dustin Hopkins will miss this week with a partially torn muscle in his hip, source says. He’s week-to-week & they need a kicker— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) October 16, 2017
This truly is bad news for Washington.
This isn't just a minor ding, either. A partially torn muscle doesn't sound pleasant whatsoever. Plus, this may not just hold him out for one week. He could miss multiple weeks, which obviously isn't good news for the special teams unit.
Washington will work out kickers in wake of Dustin Hopkins' injury https://t.co/t1GtJcMDqC— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) October 16, 2017
Time for Washington to bring in some free-agent kickers and see if someone can man up and knock the ball in between the posts.
Kickers don't always get a ton of love, but the sooner the Redskins can get Hopkins back on the field, the better.
