If you've never felt the urge to make the trek to Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the Little League World Series, reconsider your priorities in life. The LLWS is one of the greatest sports traditions in the entire country and, if you love baseball, you'll feel right at home with the intimate settings, youthful laughter, and reasonably-priced hot dogs.
Major League Baseball's 2017 addition of the "Little League Classic" was a major success and it became immediately clear this event was here to stay.
Today, MLB announced the second annual Classic will be played by the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets!
Despite the notion that these two squads are fringe LLWS contenders, next year's event will feature the sort-of hometown Phillies and a local Mets team that could use a little bit of the Williamsport magic.
The game will take place on Sunday, August 19 in front of an intimate Williamsport crowd. It really doesn't get any better than this, folks.
