The New York Yankees have a habit of waiting until contracts expire before negotiating new deals, so it's not that much of a shock that key executives like GM Brian Cashman, VP of player development Gary Denbo, VP of baseball operations Tim Naehring, manager Joe Girardi, and the entire coaching staff haven't received extensions.

Well, it's a little shocking considering the job Cashman and Girardi have done. But still.

Of New York's loose-hanging front office members, Denbo has often been linked to the Miami Marlins because of his relationship with Derek Jeter. Nothing is even close to happening, but if he's not retained by the Yankees, he could find himself with cushy position with a new franchise.

The Yankees do have high standards and expect to compete for a championship year after year, but it was time to rebuild and get younger, and name me a GM who has done a better job in a shorter amount of time then Cashman?

Still waiting.

You can argue how well Girardi has done as the team's skipper, but there aren't better replacements on the market at this time. It's likely he'll be returning, and if that's the case, his entire coaching staff will most likely be back as well.
