Optics matter.

Following an impressive 2016 run that saw the New York Giants reach the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs, the Giants have stumbled out of the gate in 2017. Tasked with traveling to JerryWorld and taking on their bitter rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, on opening week, the Cowboys couldn't muster a shred of offense and eventually fell by a score of 19-3.

Superstar receiver Odell Beckham, Jr. missed the game due to a high-ankle sprain and the Giants offense sputtered as a result.

Giants fans are holding their breaths and hoping for Beckham's return heading into Week 2's matchup against the Detroit Lions, so this news may evoke a whirlwind of emotions: Beckham was spotted in a dance-off with Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook last Thursday night.

While it's difficult to pass judgement on millionaire athletes for what they do in their spare time, this is flat-out embarrassing for the Giants' front office.

Beckham is one of the most electric players in the game and his team absolutely needs him to be healthy, so this incident strikes an even bigger chord than the infamous Miami boat-trip that the 24-year-old standout took with teammates before the playoffs last season.

You don't have to be an old-school critic to find Beckham's actions to be inexcusable and you don't even necessarily have to be a critic to call this spade a spade: Beckham is extremely immature.

There's more important things in life than football, but getting into a dance-off with a bum ankle just days before the first game of the season (that he missed) is nothing more than poorly-written joke.

It's not very amusing anymore: the Giants desperately need Odell Beckham, Jr. to grow up and they need that to happen sooner rather than later.
