The Chicago Cubs have been without star pitcher Jon Lester for over two weeks now as he recovered from left shoulder fatigue that required him to rest his arm for a few weeks.
Now, he's finally back, and ready to help lead the Cubs on their final postseason push and hopefully to another title. After hitting the DL on August 18th, Lester has officially been activated from the DL Saturday.
With his activation, Lester will make his scheduled start this afternoon against the Braves as the Cubs look to pad their 3.5 game lead over the Brewers in the NL Central.
While Lester has been subpar so far this season, with a rough 4.37 ERA, he will still join the rotation at a key time, and hopefully provide the solid arm that the team needs in the final months of the season.
Additionally, recently-added Leonys Martin will be available for the Cubbies today for the first time.
Welcome back Jon!
