NBA big men are learning very quickly they shouldn't jump when Dennis Smith Jr. takes flight.

The Los Angeles Lakers know it might be even smarter to stay out of the lane after this monster jam from the Mavericks rookie.

Smith Jr. blew past fellow rookie Lonzo Ball with ease, showcasing the quickness that he became known for in his freshman year at North Carolina State. Then, the rookie point guard jumped out of the gym, cocking back a vicious one-handed slam as 7-foot-1 Ivica Zubac looked on.

The Mavericks have to love what they've seen from their No. 9 overall pick so far. He's been on a mission in Summer League to prove that he's better than the fifth point guard in the rookie class, and this Westbrook-esque dunk is just the latest example.

The Bulls, and more so the Knicks, inexplicably passed on Smith Jr., with the latter selecting relatively unknown Frank Ntilikina over the electrifying point guard.

It will be exciting to see what Smith Jr. can do with the keys to the Mavericks' car. He's a perfect fit for the Mavericks high pick-and-roll offensive scheme, and being able to run it with an above the rim guy like Nerlens Noel or a shooter like Dirk will be huge for Smith's production.

Don't forget about Harrison Barnes, Seth Curry, or Wes Matthews stretching the floor. Or Smith Jr. can just take it to the rim himself.
