The All-Star break couldn't have come soon enough for the Cubs, especially after ace Jon Lester allowed 10 runs in the first inning against Pittsburgh on Sunday afternoon.

Lester's historically bad performance — the worst of his career — was so horrific, he became the punching bag of the internet for a few hours.

But it's one thing when random Twitter strangers roast you. It's another when your own team gets in on the action.

The Cubs account caught some heat, but begged for forgiveness.

But of course, the tweet spawned more than a few others.

When all was said and done for Lester, he surrendered 10 runs in 2/3 of an inning, on a whopping 53 pitches.

The shocking outing was just the icing on the cake for the Cubs tumultuous first half of the season. The defending World Series champions will enter the break with a 43-45 record, and a lot to talk about.

Enjoy the time off.
