Vladimir Guerrero was one of the most feared hitters during the early 2000s.
His son, Vlad Guerrero Jr., could be equally as feared once he reaches the majors, if this video is any indication of his shockingly similar talent.
He was signed by the Blue Jays at just 16 years old in 2015 and has been showing a ton of power potential ever since. Now 18, Vlad Jr. participated in the Midwest League Home Run Derby and was hitting bombs. That swing seems familiar, doesn't it?
So in the first round of the Midwest League home run derby we got to watch Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit bombs for three minutes. Early leader. pic.twitter.com/s4iJajuQNV— Alexis Brudnicki (@baseballexis) June 20, 2017
Like father, like son.
It is insane how similar he looks to the elder Vlad. The same violent swing, the number 27...the only thing missing is him in a Montreal jersey. It makes you wonder if he would have signed with the Expos if they still existed.
He is already ranked the 28th best prospect in the game, and it won't be surprising to see him in one of the top spots in the next few seasons. He is currently hitting .321 with four home runs, 39 RBI, and a .411 OBP with the Single-A Lansing Lugnuts.
The baseball world better watch out. A new Vlad Guerrero is going to be hitting many home runs in the future.
