The 49ers defense just got a whole lot better.
Or at least that's what they hope.
San Francisco is an incredibly young team, with a long rebuild ahead of them. However, with new head coach Kyle Shanahan and new GM John Lynch, the team is definitely headed in the right direction.
After selecting Stanford star Solomon Thomas with the No. 3 overall pick in the Draft, the team has now signed as good a mentor as you can get to show him the ropes and teach him the ways of the NFL.
The 49ers have signed 33-year-old outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil, sending him to his third team of his career.

In 11 seasons in the NFL, Dumervil has been selected to five Pro Bowls, as well as been selected to the All-Pro team twice. He's also just one sack away from crossing the 100 sack mark on his career.
49ers GM John Lynch was so excited that he had to break the news on Twitter himself.
San Fran just got a stud on their defense, as well as a great mentor for all of the young talent they have.
Another smart move by Lynch. #Brick
