A young Golden State Warrior fan passed away on May 7 due to a medical condition.

Kimberly Nuestro, a Homestead High School sophomore, passed away doing what she loved, and that was playing basketball. The Warrior fan was wearing the number of her favorite player on her jersey, and that was Stephen Curry.

After her passing, Nuestro's family, as well as Homestead High School staff and students, went on social media, using the hashtag #SignForKim and tagging Curry in all posts to get him to sign Nuestro's basketball sneakers.

The social media campaign worked, as Curry signed her shoes, which were dropped off by Nuestro's father and her former basketball coach yesterday and will be returned to her family.

“I wish I could have met [Nuestro] before she passed,” Curry told Shauli Bar-On. “But this is a small token for her family, to I guess know that there’s a lot of people thinking about them, [to help them] with what they’re going through and to hopefully honor her life with those shoes.”

A class act by Curry to honor a young fan of his, who was taken way too soon.

Nuestro's memory was honored by family, friends, students, and staff by wearing Warriors apparel and Warriors colors (blue and gold) at Homestead High on Monday.

A small gesture like this by Curry is something that will lift the spirits of her family, as well as the community. I'm sure Nuestro is looking down with a huge smile on her face, that her hero is honoring her memory.
