It looks like everybody's concern about a star player getting injured in the World Baseball Classic has been validated.

Royals star catcher Salvador Pérez was hurt in a collision at home plate on Saturday night, as his home country of Venezuela took on Team Italy. He'll now undergo a second MRI to make sure everything's OK.

The Royals front office isn't too worried, however, as they expect him to join the team on Monday and undergo an MRI on the knee in question.

Ironically, the collision was caused by Royals' backup catcher Drew Butera, as he tried to score the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

While the Royals' organization is staying positive, we'll keep you posted with updates.
