The New England Patriots have had good luck with kickers. After the legendary Adam Vinatieri left for Indy, Stephen Gostkowski has stepped in and has been phenomenal. Some have been under the impression that Gostkowski has been having a bad season after he missed a couple of field goals and extra points, but if you look at the stats, that's not the case.

You probably don't know that Gostkowski broke an NFL record during the AFC Championship victory over Pittsburgh, but he passed his predecessor, Vinatieri, in playoff extra points made.

Vinatieri has 66 career playoff extra points, and Gostkowski kicked his 67th this past Sunday. Interestingly enough, Gostkowski has played in nine fewer postseason games (21) in his career than Vinatieri has (30).

This may not seem that cool, but if you think about it, it's pretty impressive. Now that the extra point is farther back, the task isn't as easy, especially with postseason pressure.

Gostkowski can extend that streak if the Pats manage to score some TDs in the Super Bowl.
