Orlando City SC has decided to shake things up looking towards the 2017 MLS season.

According to an official announcement from the franchise, the club has decided to not pick up contract options on six players: defenders Kevin Alston, Luke Boden, Seb Hines and Tyler Turner; midfielder Pedro Ribeiro; and forward Júlio Baptista.

The fact that four defenders are not likely to return to the team means Orlando is likely to be actively looking for ways to upgrade the defensive line ahead of next year. However, according to a report from Alicia DelGallo from Orlando Sentinel, some of these players might eventually return to the club next year with a different contract.

In analyzing the six players that left the team, only Alston and Hines appear as players worth bringing back. Baptista might become too expensive for being merely a bench player, while Boden and Ribeiro became expendable, and Turner didn't progress as expected.

Orlando City SC now needs depth at both center back and full back. Expect them to be pretty active in the transfer market, particularly during the January Transfer Window. They need to have a stronger defensive line if they want to make a playoff push next season.
