The Washington Redskins were able to use a combination of both good defensive play, and offensive execution on their way to winning 26-20 over the Minnesota Vikings Sunday. In doing so, the Redskins improved to 5-3-1 and stayed in the NFC East race, which is heating up.

The Redskins were able to jump out to a 14-0 lead on the Vikings before the game leveled out and become a slug-fest the rest of the way.

On the Redskins opening drive the team was able to score on a 4-yard touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins to receiver Jamison Crowder. The touchdown was the 60th TD pass of Kirk Cousins career.

Cousins passed Eddie LeBaron, and joined Sammy Baugh, Sonny Jurgensen, Joe Theismann, Billy Kilmer and Mark Rypien as the only players to throw 60 touchdown passes with the Redskins.

The following drive Cousins connected with tight end Vernon Davis on what would become a 38-yard touchdown...Cousins 61st. On the play, Cousins passed Gus Frerotte (9,769) for seventh-most passing yards in Redskins history.

On the day Cousins completed 22-of-33 passes for 262 yards with two touchdowns, no interceptions and a passer rating of 110.9. Cousins has now thrown at least one touchdown pass in 24 of 25 regular season games since assuming the starting role prior to the 2015 season, including each of the last eight games dating back to Week 2.

While the Redskins' front office is still in wait-and-see mode with Cousins in terms of a long-term contract, his numbers continue to speak for themselves. Just two weeks ago against the Bengals, Cousins tied Sonny Jurgensen for most 300 yard games as a Redskins quarterback with 16...a number he will surely eclipse soon.

For his career, Cousins is now 856 for 1304 with 9,912 yards, 61 touchdowns and 37 interceptions in 34 games started.
