And thus, some of basketball's greatest figures move one step closer to seeing their name enshrined in basketball infamy.
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced the finalists for the 2018 Hall of Fame Class, and it includes some of the top names in recent basketball memory.
At the top of the class has to be arguably the greatest shooter in NBA history: the one, the only, Ray Allen.
The 10-time All-Star and two time NBA champion should ban easy choice for the Hall of Fame, and certainly deserves enshrinement among the league's finest.
Next on the list, two-time MVP Steve Nash.
Nash helped revolutionize the point guard position in the NBA, and is one of the league's most prolific passers in the history of the NBA. Him being there makes the next finalist another obvious choice.
Like Nash, Kidd was also a visionary at his position, and inspired the likes of many of the league's current top players.
They are likely the top three options, but there is an unbelievable amount of talent in the finalists this year.
Congrats to all of the #18HoopClass Finalists!— 12up (@12upSport) February 17, 2018
Chris Webber, Mo Cheeks, WNBA superstar Tina Thompson! This class is absolutely stacked from top to bottom, and each and every one of these players deserves a spot in the Hall.
We'll see who gets in and who misses the cut for now when they announce the decision.
