Is it finally official?
This week has been a rollercoaster of emotions for Pirates pitcher Gerrit Cole and his family. The young hurler has been the center of trade rumors all offseason long, with the Astros being the most recent team to pop up with interest.
A deal was reportedly reach earlier this week, but nothing was never made official, prompting a hilarious tweet from Cole's wife. Now, it sounds like we may just have ourselves an official deal between the two squads.
Hearing Pirates and Astros have a trade. Sources say Musgrove and Moran to Pitt for Gerrit Cole.— Tim Brown (@TBrownYahoo) January 13, 2018
According to reports, the Pirates will send Cole to the Astros in return for prospects Joe Musgrove and Colin Moran.
Cole is coming off of a mediocre 2017, with a 12-12 record and a 4.26 ERA. However, he still has the same talent that we saw in that 2015 All-Star season, and will be a great addition to a stacked rotation with Dallas Keuchel, Justin Verlander, and Lance McCullers.
The Astros are all in on a repeat World Series trip.
