All it takes is one week away from football to realize Rob Gronkowski is the biggest X-factor of a game anytime he's on the field. Gronkowski missed last week's loss to the Dolphins after serving a one-game suspension but returned Sunday against the Steelers and made his presence felt.
Gronkowski finished the day with nine catches for 168 yards and fueled the Patriots' game-winning 77-yard drive that was capped off by a two-point conversion catch by the big man himself.
But not only did Gronkowski's late-game heroics win the Patriots the game, it also earned him a heaping wad of cash in the process.
This was a $2 million drive for Gronk. He hit his second incentive clause here.— Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) December 18, 2017
Nothing like an extra two mill to go along with the win, that never hurts.
While the Patriots are at it, they might as well pay Gronkowski $100 million. It's incredible how much of a game-changer he is on the field. He's a mismatch for any defender at any given time.
Just ask Steelers safety Sean Davis how that turned out.
With the win, the road to the Super Bowl in the AFC now goes through New England if the Patriots can come away with wins against the Bills and Jets to finish out the season.
Even with how talented the Steelers are, I can't see them or any other team in the AFC matching up against Gronkowski and the Patriots on the road in the playoffs.
It just isn't even fair at this point.
