Tennessee has agreed to a deal with Jeremy Pruitt.
The search is over!
Tennessee finally has their guy.
After exhausting a host of available options for their vacant head football coach position, Tennessee brought a famed SEC assistant aboard.
Alabama defensive coordinator, Jeremy Pruitt, will become the next Vols head coach.
It seems as though the two sides are in the process of ironing out the last little kinks before this deal is officially done.
Sources tell ESPN that Tennessee is in the process of trying to finalize a deal with Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt after offering him the job earlier in the day. Vols also interviewed Auburn DC Kevin Steele and Georgia DC Mel Tucker.— Chris Low (@ClowESPN) December 7, 2017
Tennessee has to be breathing a sigh of relief now. For a while it seemed as though prospective coaches were literally looking for reasons not to sign with the Vols. Even eliciting the aid of former Tennessee QB Peyton Manning didn't seem to get the team much of anywhere, but they may have come out on the right side of things regardless once the deal with Pruitt is made official.
Anytime you can pull a coach out from under the wing of Nick Saban at Alabama, you know you're getting a guy with vast knowledge of how to win at the collegiate level.
This will be Pruitt's golden opportunity to prove he can do just that.
