There's no way around it; what took place last night during the Steelers-Bengals game was frightening.

Seeing Ryan Shazier immediately drop to the floor after leading with his head had the NFL world expecting the worst. Although there is no definitive answer regarding the severity of Shazier's injury, doctors called it a spinal cord contusion.

While fans, friends, and family wait for the news, two neurosurgeons provided an update on Shazier's status.

It's great to hear that Shazier will return to Pittsburgh in the next 24 to 48 hours, but the question will still remain in what condition. For now, Shazier will stay in Cincinnati to receive treatment and undergo more tests.

Considering what NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweeted in the morning, the next day or two will be crucial for Shazier's recovery.

After last night, the true horror of football was on display. The thought of a player losing movement in his legs over a tackle is terrifying.

Here's to hoping the star linebacker makes a full recovery.
