5 Recent Quarterbacks the Browns Could Have Drafted But Blew It

The Cleveland Browns have a quarterback problem.

Well, they've had a quarterback problem for the last 15 years. Every time it looks like it might be fixed, everything falls apart. This year, they gave Deshone Kizer a shot. Now he is benched and the team has no idea what's next.

It starts at the NFL draft, a process the Browns just can't seem to get right. They consistently miss on early draft picks and can't seem to catch a break. Meanwhile, the guys they pass on usually are successful elsewhere.

Since 2013, the Browns have used 11 different starting quarterbacks: Jason Campbell, Brandon Weeden, Brian Hoyer, Johnny Manziel, Connor Shaw, Josh McCown, Austin Davis, Robert Griffin III, Cody Kessler, Deshone Kizer and Kevin Hogan.

Here are the top five quarterbacks the Browns could have had these past five years.

5. Teddy Bridgewater

This one's a little weird due to the injury that Bridgewater suffered, but still, the Browns could have had Teddy back in 2014 but elected to draft Manziel instead. Bridgewater has four times as many career touchdowns as Manziel and is preparing for a comeback while Manziel has been gone from the NFL for the past two years.

4. Deshaun Watson

The jury's still out on Watson, but it sure does look like the Browns should have just drafted Watson instead of trading this pick to the Texans. Watson could come back down to Earth, but he looks light years ahead of Kizer so far in both their careers.

3. Derek Carr

Remember when the Browns drafted Johnny Football instead of Bridgewater? Well, they also drafted him instead of Derek Carr. That's two Pro Bowl quarterbacks that the Browns passed on to draft Manziel. The 2014 draft was not a good year for the Browns front office.

2. Dak Prescott

This one's a bit more forgivable because nearly everyone missed out on Dak, but the Browns drafted a different QB, Cody Kessler, a full round before Prescott was taken. They also had a pick six spots before Prescott was taken by the Cowboys and instead took safety Derrick Kindred. Nuff' said.

1. Carson Wentz

This is the one that hurts the most because the Browns traded away the pick that helped the Eagles grab Wentz. The Browns essentially traded Wentz for a bunch of draft picks that they later traded for more picks, which then turned into nine different players—two of which are Cody Kessler and Deshone Kizer.

The Browns are just incredible.
