Just because you're no longer playing, doesn't mean you can't voice your opinion.
That's exactly what Kobe Bryant did earlier today, making it abundantly clear where he stands (or kneels) in regards to the National Anthem controversy that has been taking the professional sports world:
The NBA legend is not shy about speaking his mind when it comes to social issues and speaking up for what he believes is right.
While he was playing, he along with the rest of the Lakers wore "I Can't Breathe" t-shirts to protest the death of Eric Garner at the hands of the NYPD.
Bryant has also been critical of President Donald Trump in the past, as well as the myriad of social/racial issues that have been taking over the country, so it is not a surprising development that he would take a knee during the National Anthem.
Supporters of Bryant and the movement applauded his words:
