The LSU Tigers are getting a huge boost this weekend, as star defensive lineman Arden Key is returning from offseason surgery. Key is one of the best impact players in the SEC, and can single-handedly be an issue for opposing offensive lines.
This is perfect timing for the Tigers.
While Mississippi State's offensive line is anchored by several leaders, they did break in two new starters to begin the year, which will have to line up across from arguably the best DL in the SEC.
Oh, we recognize.
Key and LSU's defensive line will have to come up huge against Nick Fitzgerald, one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the nation. Mississippi State is rarely on the national stage, so Fitzgerald will look to generate some early-season buzz around the program.
Fitzgerald is a dual-threat option behind center with the quickness to get around the edge, meaning LSU will have to produce quick pressure from their front, without committing additional players to the blitz.
They'll hope to have another familiar face back in the fold along with Key.
If Rashard Lawrence does not play, Orgeron says they will considered shifting the defensive line.#LSU— Brandon Adam (@badam_TDR) September 11, 2017
If Lawrence can go, there's no telling how dominant this defense can be.
