Western Kentucky is not a powerhouse basketball program, but they have had some success over the years.
They made the tournament back in 2012 and 2013, and had some promise under a new head coach.
However, the biggest news to hit the school in quite some time was landing the signature of five-star recruit Mitchell Robinson, considered one of the top freshman in the country going into the new season.
However, now it looks like he won't be playing for WKU this year or ever.
Five-star recruit Mitchell Robinson is no longer on #WKU's campus. He left as soon as yesterday, a source told the Herald.— WKU Herald Sports (@wkuheraldsports) July 28, 2017
Robinson was the No. 1 rated center in the class of 2017, and was poised to be the face of the team.
The reports that he is no longer on campus are troubling. It is possible that he is just taking some time off, or he could be second guessing his decision. It looks like it's the latter.
We have received new information that Mitchell Robinson did indeed pack up everything before he left with no plans to return to BG.— WKU.Rivals.com (@WKU_Rivals) July 28, 2017
Robinson chose Western Kentucky over schools with more prestige and talent. The 2017 basketball season does not start for a few more months, and WKU will have to sort out this situation before then.
For now, this is certainly going to be a major story to keep an eye on.
