Rule No. 1: don't mess with athletes on Twitter, especially Dez Bryant.

Keyboard warriors try to troll athletes in their mentions and they usually go unnoticed, but not this time.

A Redskins fan learned that the hard way when he tried to take a jab at Bryant for a 2012 incident when Bryant was arrested on domestic abuse charges after reportedly striking his mother across the face with a baseball cap. The charges were eventually dropped and Bryant sought out help from the incident.

Bryant did not take the tweet lightly and sent a NSFW response right back.

Bryant started responding to critics on Twitter earlier this morning after news broke that Ezekiel Elliott was reportedly involved in an altercation at a night club on Sunday.

Bryant smartly deleted the tweet above, and others supporting Elliott, but there was no need for this kind of jab at him from an incident that happened five years ago.

But of course this is the internet and these trolls would never say something to an athlete's face. They'd rather sit behind their keyboard and try to make jokes. This time it completely backfired.

Let's hope Joe Ham learned his lesson. All he can do know is take the L.
