WE HAVE A DEAL!
The MLB trade deadline is still weeks away, but the Cubs are taking the suspense out of things by making their biggest move of the year early. Chicago has been in desperate need of solid pitching, and it looks like they finally found some.
The team took to Twitter out of absolutely nowhere to announce that they have acquired star pitcher Jose Quintana from the Cubs in return for a boatload of prospects, including top prospects Eloy Jimenez and Dylan Cease.
The Cubs called up one of their best prospects this season in second baseman Ian Happ, who has been stellar for them so far. But Jimenez, a 20-year-old outfielder hitting .271 with eight homers and 32 RBI, had taken over the system's top prospect honors, and Cease slotted in as the org's top arm.
Now, both players are suiting up for the cross-city rival, giving the White Sox arguably the best farm system in baseball.

The question now becomes, will the addition of Quintana be enough for the Cubs to wake up and storm through the NL? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
