Early this morning, Los Angeles Clippers forward and soon-to-be free agent Blake Griffin joined the popular Barstool Sports podcast "Pardon My Take," and made one particular comment that will make Boston Celtics fans ecstatic.
Griffin, who many experts believe will strongly consider signing with the Celtics when he hits free agency next month, was asked on the show to name his "Mount Rushmore" of basketball cities.
His response? New York, Phoenix, Toronto and Boston.
Don't freak out, but, on @PardonMyTake, Blake Griffin put Boston on his Mt. Rushmore of NBA cities alongside Toronto, Phoenix and NY— Jay King (@ByJayKing) June 19, 2017
While those are some interesting choices (Phoenix and Toronto aren't usually cities that come up to answer that question), both Boston and New York are two of the best basketball cities in the world. And if Griffin wasn't considering the Celtics in free agency, the answer of Boston to that question would be normal.
Boston isn't the only team trying to pry Griffin away from Los Angeles. The Oklahoma City Thunder are also expected to make a run at him in free agency.
Griffin grew up in Oklahoma and played his college ball at the University of Oklahoma.
