Kent State was struck with devastating and tragic news, as freshman offensive lineman Tyler Heintz passed away today after a conditioning workout. Heintz was 19.
Tonight, the university released a statement on Heintz's passing.

The cause of death remains unknown. An autopsy will be performed.
You hate to see this kind of thing at any level of football, but the Kent State community has handled it about as well as you could have asked.

Strength and conditioning coaches can only do so much, and while we've heard of circumstances in the past when players were pushed too hard, there's no evidence that this was the case here.
