Reports and rumors have been flying around and swirling all offseason that the Dallas Cowboys would be parting ways with former franchise QB Tony Romo in some way, shape, and or form due to the rise of Dak Prescott.
It's always been conventional wisdom that the kind route is to release him, and quickly in order for Romo to have plenty of time to find his next home swiftly.
And with the latest report stating that the team will be releasing Tony Romo tomorrow before free agency officially kicks off, the entire situation seems a bit more real now.
Hearing there is a very strong likelihood that barring a strong trade offer the Cowboys release Tony Romo tomorrow. Let the chase begin— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) March 8, 2017
According to sources close to the team, the Dallas Cowboys will be releasing Tony Romo tomorrow before the free agency period officially begins at 4:00 pm. The only stipulation would be if they could pull off a miracle trade before then that suits all parties.
Romo has been a Cowboy since the team signed him as an undrafted free agent back in 2003, and it will certainly be an odd sight seeing him suit up in another uniform next season.
Dallas fans definitely won't like it.

But that's just how the cookie crumbles sometimes.
There are also quite a few teams already interested in bringing Tony Romo in to lead their team for a few more seasons.
Once Tony Romo is on the open market, he'd have significant interest in signing w/HOU or DEN as we've been reporting. Wants to win now— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) March 8, 2017
Only time will tell where he land.
Thank you for 14 incredible years, Tony, and good luck in the future!
